Deborah L. Copeland, keynote and motivational speaker, is a native West Virginian. With a desire to establish her own business in a state she wanted to see prosper, she developed one of the area’s first health care temporary services. Coupled with her strong background in health care, she attempted to do just that and succeeded. Ask any of her satisfied clients, and they will assert that she achieved that goal beyond expectations. Her temporary services grew to encompass seven states, multiple branches, and national recognition.

Copeland then developed Work Smart Business Consultants, a training and development firm for companies seeking a more professional climate. Deborah Copeland believes in training, and her success has been proven nationally, as well as, locally. Work Smart enjoys a reputation built on attitude and commitment. Training such as executive and life coaching is offered on the executive level.

Work Smart, based in Charleston, West Virginia, is a leading supplier of consulting services to area businesses, accounting and legal firms, medical offices, hospitals and industry. The company provides workflow studies, extensive in-house consulting services, data collection, corporate shopping services to measure the quality of your organization, observation, planning strategies, management training, business development consultations, legal witness preparation courses and public servant critiques.

Ms. Copeland is well known in the community as an active volunteer; serving on numerous boards. Her commitment to volunteerism involves her staff in related activities. Copeland is driven to give back to the community and state, which has assisted her companies in being the successes they have been.

This philosophy was best exemplified with the selection of Copeland as the 1992 Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of West Virginia, Services Division. The award was given after careful consideration of not only the individual, but the entire companies as well. The institute of American Entrepreneurs judged Deborah Copeland and her business on community involvement, business plan and objectives, financial information, quality programs and overall commitment to success in her field.

In 1995, Deborah Copeland was selected by The State Journal as one of the 10 business people profiled in Who’s Who in West Virginia Business.

Having enjoyed a wonderful and productive business career, Deborah Copeland has sold several businesses and now has settled down to a 40-hour work week (retired). Copeland consults and enjoys days with her six children, three of which have joined her family through adoption within the last five years – a goal for most of her life, now a reality.

Copeland has written a book on Attitude Therapy, which will be published in the fall of 2006.
